Come join us anytime at the Motor City Pride Youth Zone!
(All of the activities listed below will be happening all day.)
On The Spot Interviews-
Description-youth will be given a set of interview questions to ask anyone of their choice (youth or adults), as they walk throughout the entirety of Motor City Pride. The interviews will then be published in the Affirmations Youth Newsletter.
Face Painting-
Description–youth can stop into the Youth Zone and get the stencil of their choice; or an original design painted on their face (provided the painters know what their talking about).
Jewelry Making-
Description-you can drop into the Youth Zone and make hemp, bead, or craft necklaces, bracelets, pins, etc., to both take home and wear themselves, or donate back to Affirmations Youth Program for use in a future fundraiser.
Speed Meeting-
Description-youth will have an opportunity to fill out a short pre-printed bio sheet about themselves when stopping into the Youth Zone. These bio sheets will then be posted on a large foam board that will be adhered to the side of the tent. Youth who are interested in meeting a friends or new people will peruse the various bio sheets on the side of the tent, jot down the information listed and make contact.
Hourly Raffle-
Description-youth will have the opportunity to sign up for an hourly raffle when stopping into the Youth Zone. They will be given a ticket after signing up. Volunteers working at the Youth Zone will then write their ticket number down next to their sign-in information. Drawings will take place every hour. It is up to the youth that sign up to check in periodically to see if they have won. Youth that have won will be able to choose between gift certificates to Old Navy or a variety of CD’s.

MCP Youth Afterglow-
Description-This is an opportunity for youth to continue hanging out even after the Motor City Pride festivities are finished. Games, Dance Competition, Music, and conversation are only a few things that will make this afterglow one to remember. Snacks, chips and pop will be provided. The afterglow will be held in the basement of Affirmations Lesbian and Gay Community Center-195 W. 9 Mile Rd. in Ferndale.
Youth Mini Ball-
Description-this is a dance competition event that will take place at the Youth Afterglow from 6-8pm. If you are interested in competing, they will need to sign up at the Youth Zone tent. The dance competition itself will include those that have previously signed up. This activity will kick off at 6:30pm.
